FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Straight answers to the questions we get most often.
Installation & setup
- Q. Which version of Premiere Pro do I need?
- Adobe Premiere Pro v25.6 or later. macOS and Windows both supported.
- Q. How do I install the .ccx file?
- Download the .ccx from your dashboard, then double-click it — Creative Cloud will handle the install. Reopen Premiere Pro and the shikomi.ai panel appears under the Plugins menu.
- Q. The plugin panel does not appear after install.
- Menu → Plugins → (if empty) restart Premiere Pro. If still missing, reinstall the .ccx and restart Creative Cloud. Make sure your Premiere version is 25.6+.
- Q. Can I use shikomi.ai offline?
- No — the AI pipeline runs in the cloud. You need an internet connection, a shikomi.ai account, and the plugin signed in.
Editing & workflow
- Q. How long does processing take?
- About 5–10 minutes for footage up to ~30 minutes. Longer footage scales roughly linearly. Pro Mode with 4 editors runs them in parallel so the wall time stays close to a single-editor run.
- Q. What happens to multicam sequences?
- Multicam nested sequences are preserved during the edit. shikomi.ai reads the source media coordinates correctly so nested-sequence picks land on the right frames. After output you may need to right-click → Multi-Camera → Enable if you want the multicam selector back (this is an Adobe UXP API limitation).
- Q. Multiple clips on V1 without wrapping — is that OK?
- Yes. Non-wrapped multi-clip timelines work correctly: in / out points and editor output land where you expect.
- Q. Can I cancel a run mid-process?
- Yes — the plugin has a ■ STOP button that shows while a run is active. It sends an abort signal and the pipeline stops at the next step boundary.
- Q. What is "Wrap Sequence"?
- A helper that wraps your active sequence as a nested V1+A1 clip in a new sequence. Lets you pre-trim multi-track source material before running AutoEdit. Standard Mode does this automatically if it detects a multi-track sequence.
- Q. Can I open the web app after Auto Edit and still see the result?
- Yes. You can open the web app after Auto Edit finishes and the previous result will be restored automatically. A small banner at the top confirms when you're looking at a restored result; the next Auto Edit replaces it.
- Q. Which subtitle SRT should I use?
- We recommend using the readable SRT for normal viewer-facing captions. The combined SRT is also available as a timing-faithful fallback if you need it.
Plans & billing
- Q. What counts as "processing minutes"?
- The duration of the audio we transcribe (= your sequence duration). A 30-minute timeline uses 30 minutes of quota, regardless of how long the output cut ends up.
- Q. What if I run out of my monthly minutes?
- Buy an add-on pack (30 / 60 / 120 minutes) from the dashboard. Pack minutes stack on top of your plan and roll over — they do not expire at the end of the month.
- Q. What is BYOK?
- Bring Your Own Keys — Pro plan users can enter their own Gemini and Gladia API keys in the plugin settings. When both keys are set, usage is unlimited and runs use your billing directly with those providers (shikomi.ai does not count them against your plan).
- Q. Can I use the free trial output commercially?
- The free trial is for evaluation only. Commercial use requires Standard or Pro. See the Terms of Service.
Privacy & data
- Q. Where does my audio go?
- Uploaded to a temporary secure cloud location → processed for transcription → removed immediately after transcription completes. The plugin does NOT upload video — only an audio mixdown of your sequence.
- Q. Are you training on my content?
- No. Our third-party AI providers run under zero-retention / no-training terms for paid API use.
- Q. Can I delete my account?
- Dashboard → Danger Zone → Delete account. All usage records and subscription data are removed. This is irreversible.
